1. General Requirements
As a rule, a course participant must be at least 18 years of age. There are special terms and conditions for minors which will be agreed upon on a case by case basis between the legal guardians and interDaF.
2. Terms of Payment and Course Fees
2.1 The course fees are currently €1,680.00 per course. The payment of these fees is due upon registration.
2.2 All bank fees (and any other charges) in conjunction with payment of the course fees are to be paid by the participant.
2.3 Fees for classes missed due to non-attendance by the participant shall not be reimbursed.
3. Contract
3.1 A contract concerning participation in the language course shall be established once confirmation has been made by interDaF.
3.2 This confirmation shall be dispatched by interDaF following the receipt and processing of the participant’s registration form and the course fees.
3.3 Should the participant wish to alter the data contained in the contract, thus causing additional administrative work, the first such alteration shall be free of charge. All subsequent alterations shall be subject to a processing fee of €100.00. This fee will only be charged once for all courses booked.
4. Cancellation
4.1 Notice of cancellation must be submitted in writing. Notice of cancellation shall take effect upon receipt by interDaF. Notice of cancellation is applicable, unless explicitly stated otherwise, to all courses booked with interDaF. The administrative fee is charged only once in this case.
4.2 interDaF shall retain an administrative fee of €100.00 from each participant who cancels his or her participation two weeks or more before the start of the language training.
4.3 A participant who cancels his or her registration later than two weeks before the beginning of the first course booked shall only be entitled to reimbursement if his or her place in the course can be filled by another participant. In this case interDaF shall retain an administrative fee of €150.00.
4.4 A participant who cancels his or her participation after the start of a course without having completed the enrolment process in Leipzig shall not be entitled to have any of the paid fees returned unless he or she can prove exceptional personal circumstances e.g. serious illness, a death in the family, or the like. Any such claims must be made within the first four weeks of the first course booked. In this case interDaF shall return the course fees less an administrative fee of €150.00. A participant who wishes to postpone participation in the course for the above-mentioned exceptional reasons, must inform interDaF no later than four weeks after the start date of the first course booked.
4.5 We recommend a travel cancellation insurance be taken out in the participant’s home country.
5. Termination
5.1 A participant who leaves a course which is already underway without citing any verifiable exceptional personal reasons shall not be entitled to have any of the fees returned. For courses booked subsequently, the cancellation terms set out in section 4 apply.
5.2 If serious personal reasons are cited, interDaF shall return a portion of the course fees less an administrative fee of €150.00. In such cases, a written application for the partial reimbursement of the course fees, citing the reasons involved, must be submitted by the end of the course. The cancellation is applicable, unless explicitly stated otherwise, to all courses booked with interDaF.
6. Arrival
6.1 The start of the course (first day of the course) is the day of official enrolment. In the event of any delay, interDaF must be notified immediately.
6.2 Participants who arrive until the third day of the course can only be permitted to join the course already underway if all admission requirements acc. 7 are met. The start of the course (first day of the course) is the day of official enrolment. In the event of any delay, interDaF must be notified immediately.
7. Course Level Assignment
7.1 Preliminary placement in a particular course level is based on the information provided in the participant's registration form. The participant is responsible for providing proof of the language level required for direct entry into a course. interDaF reserves the right to assess the participant’s language level upon entry.
7.2 interDaF certificates of the previous language course will be accepted for direct admission to a course. Furthermore, certificates issued by the Goethe Institute and telc certificates stating the completion of the previous language level will be recognised for the same purpose. These certificates must be submitted before the beginning of the language training at interDaF.
7.3 If the admission requirements acc. 7.2 are not met it is compulsory to take the online entrance test.
7.4 Final placement in a particular course level is based on the assessed knowledge of German.
If the results of the placement test differ from the preliminary placement the participants will be assigned to another course, suitable to their language level.
7.5 An advanced placement during the on-going language course based on a certificate submitted later is not possible.
8. Responsibilities of the Participant
8.1 It is the responsibility of the course participants to ensure that their stay in Germany is legal. interDaF assumes that the participants have a valid entry and residence permit for the duration of the course.
8.2 The course participants are solely responsible for their own health, accident, liability and personal property insurance. interDaF assumes no liability whatsoever in this field.
8.3 The course participants are required to obey all course regulations and all house rules for the duration of their stay with interDaF. This applies in particular to compulsory attendance. Should interDaF find repeated and unauthorized absence, and the course participants do not alter their behaviour in spite of a formal reminder, they can be excluded from further participation in the course. In this case course fees will not be refunded.
8.4 Communication during language tuition is equally influenced by nonverbal elements such as gestures and facial expressions. The faces of the participants must therefore be clearly and completely visible in the classroom and during test situations or exams.
